🌱 What Are Antibiotics?
Antibiotics kill or slow the growth of bacteria. They are a type of antimicrobial, “medicines used to prevent and treat infectious diseases in humans, animals, and plants.” (reference)

The video explains what antibiotics are, how they are used to treat sick farm animals, withdrawal times, and the role of farmers, veterinarians, and government in preventing antimicrobial resistance and ensuring a safe food supply.

Students respond to a guiding question, share perspectives in groups, and write a one-sentence summary to discuss with the class.

Students reflect on antibiotic use by answering three “why” questions about its relevance personally, locally, and globally .

Students write their clearest point on a sticky note. Each reads theirs aloud, and classmates with the same idea stand up to join them. Continue until all points are shared, then discuss key ideas as a class.
