Food for Me: Lesson 2 - Exploring Variety
In this lesson, students explore how choosing a variety of vegetables and fruits, whole grain foods, and protein foods helps their bodies get the nutrients they need.
Activities:
📊 Food Profiles
Using the nutrient graphs, students compare various foods to see how each contributes to their nutritional needs. The graphs are based on the Canadian Nutrient File and Health Canada’s reference tables, updated for recent changes to potassium and vitamin D values in cow’s milk. Because of the data complexity, students aren’t asked to create their own graphs.
