Cook More Often: Grades 7–9
Lesson 4 of A Guided Discovery of Canada’s Food Guide help students understand Canada’s Food Guide by exploring the real-world benefits of planning and preparing their own meals and snacks. This lesson gives grades 7 to 9 students the opportunity to reflect on their current food skills, explore meal planning strategies using available foods, and experiment with ingredients from the Food Guide to create meals they enjoy.
Connected with the Alberta and Saskatchewan curriculums and designed for minimal prep, this plug-and-play resource includes everything you need to teach the lesson. Students leave the lesson with a downloadable PDF summary that captures their reflections and can be used for evaluation or follow-up discussion.
